For Mike's Birthday we made it up to Kitsap Peninsula (via a ferry) for a lovely afternoon at the beach. The kids took over this great hole that an older boy had dug (about 7 feet deep) when he had to leave the beach. It got filled in a bit and they had a blast until the tide came up and began to fill it--then had a blast in their new "pool". We'd been planning on a hike, not a beach day, but the beach called--and we answered. We ended up eating dinner at a little Teriyaki place in our sandy wet clothes (we only had a change of clothes for the baby). Then we rode the ferry between Bainbridge Island and Seattle at sunset with a full moon rising over the city. A lovely day.

Dear Janelle, Mike & Family,
I was just looking at your blog and missing you guys!
Hope all is well. When will you start school? Laura goes back next Wednesday and is anxious to get back into a routine.
Are you enjoying your new home? Our neighborhood sure seems different without you. There is a nice family that just moved in down the street from Minneapolis. The dad is an attorney for Zoot. They have 4 young children. The little boy, who is 5, is a hoot! He and Caleb would have probably gotten along well.
Well, I'd best get for now.
Love, Julie, Doug & Laura Stout
