Every year the Awana club honors one girl and one boy in the club who show leadership qualities, dilligent effort and teamwork. Out of a club of nearly 70 kids, Amelia was chosen for this honor this year. She is thrilled. She was so surprised to hear her name called for it that she wasn't really clear on why she'd gotten it ("I think it was random."--her words to Daddy when he asked her about it later). We've teased her that listening during awards ceremonies must not have been part of the criteria for the award.
