Grandma Jeanie and Grandpa Dave came to visit for February birthdays 2 weeks ago. We showed them the sights and sounds of Seattle (unfortunately including H1N1). They could have proudly showed their stripes as one of the first identified Western Colorado cases of the season. Fortunately, they didn't get sick enough to go to the doctor, so their fame goes unreported, but their symptoms (and location of contraction) match. We faired very well, though the younger 3 got sick.
Aside from the local plague, we got to see the Seattle Science Center where Dad had an Aha! moment when he walked into the courtyard and realized he'd been in that exact spot 48 years ago for the World's Fair. We also visited the Aquarium and had fish & chips at Ivar's on the pier under a beautiful blazing February sun. Mom helped us select & purchase a dishwasher to replace our tough & terrible oldie. Dad replaced all the worn and loose outlets in the house (so the vacuum stays plugged in) and replaced a van fuse so our cigarette lighter works again (and the GPS can get us all the way to our destinations). Along with 5 of the 8 of us getting the flu, that's a lot to accomplish in a week!
The kids loved their visit with Grandma and Grandpa and hope it happens again soon, maybe in Colorado.
